Here is a quick step by step tutorial on how to install ChickHEN and CFWEnabler
ChickHEN does not work on 5.50+
Skip to step 4 if you already have 5.03 installed.
1. Download the 5.03 Official Firmware update here: http://downloads.exophase.com/119/psp-firmware-503/
2. Put the 5.03 update EBOOT.PBP in ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ (with capitals)
3. Launch it on your PSP and install 5.03.
4. Now set the settings like this:
Restore Default Settings
System Language = English
Character Set = Multilingual Latin 1 (850)
Theme = Original
Background = Original
5. Backup and format (with your PSP) your Memory Stick. (Make sure you have a genuine one) .
6. Now you need the ChickHEN R2 files. There are different ChickHEN mods out there.
Downloads:
1. download/file.php?mode=view&id=771 (the original)
2. download/file.php?id=772 (easy installer)
3. download/file.php?id=773 (easy installer by eXophase)
4. download/file.php?id=774 (I use this one myself, it works very well on my PSP3000)
5. download/file.php?id=775 (kfc5151@psper.net's mod)
6. download/file.php?id=776 (m0skit0's mod)
7. Put the 'h.bin' file in the root of your memory stick (=ms0:/)
And put the all the images in ms0:/PSP/PHOTO/ (if you don't have this folder, then create one)
8. On your PSP, go to PHOTO and to Memory Stick (if you have the images in a folder then open it).
Now just wait.
It will crash when the PSP loads the .TIFF file.
It will always crash the first time.
Keep trying until you get a flashing green screen and a reboot.
If it still doesn't work after about 10 tries. Then try scrolling down.
9. If it reboots then you are on ChickHEN (5.03 ChickHEN R2), you can run homebrews now.
10. Download CFWEnabler 3.70: download/file.php?id=408
11. Put the folder CFWEnabler in ms0:/PSP/GAME/
12. Launch the program and click on Flash and Install
13. When it's done, you will have 5.03 MHU
You can now run ISOs, CSOs and homebrews.
