Necesito ayuda:
Como sabéis el portátil se me sigue apagando. Si estoy usando la tarjeta Wi-Fi y no está conectado al alimentador de corriente.

Estoy usando Ubuntu 10.10 en un Asus X5DI con tarjeta Wi-Fi Atheros AR9285.

He leido un poco en la pagina de Madwifi y comentan que la versión mas compatible es la 0.9.4 . Por tanto la he descargado y he empezado por hacer un "make" pero me ha dado error y creo que esto es malo. Quizá los que tengáis mas experiencia me podéis decir si es malo o si puedo hacer algo para arreglarlo. Por si sirve de algo os dejo una captura de la consola (Los errores están en las últimas 24 o 25 lineas.):

Lo hice i sigue igual.

Googleando por ahí he leído que podría ser que hay mas de un driver instalado y se están molestando entre ellos. En los readme de instalación y demás nunca he visto nada referente a desinstalar. Debería averiguar que drivers tengo instalados y "limpiar"? Como?

Típicamente las cosas que se compilan tienen un "make uninstall" que te permite revertir la instalación. También típicamente vienen con un README.txt y/o un INSTALL.txt que explican como instalar y desinstalar el software. Si un driver "choca" con otro, probablemente en el README.txt te lo indique.

Para resumir, al momento de compilar e instalar algo esto es lo que se debe hacer:

sudo make install

Para desinstalar:

sudo make uninstall

Fíjate que en las acciones de instalar y desintalar coloco sudo porque requieres ser administrador del sistema para instalar y desinstalar software.

Qué pasa si algo falla en la compilación? Hay que ver cuál es el error (típicamente que falta una librería o archivo header) y solucionarlo para que continúe la compilación.

En general para saber sobre los módulos cargados (como drivers) puedes usar la orden lsmod. Si quieres descargarlo, sudo rmmod nombre_de_modulo. Si quieres saber información de un módulo usa modinfo nombre_de_modulo.

Adicionalmente puede existir el archivo /etc/modules donde se definen los módulos a ser cargados al inicio de sistema. Si el módulo que te causa problema está allí, pues lo quitas, y para garantizar que nada ni nadie lo va a cargar adicionalmente "blacklistéalo" en el archivo /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf o similar.
